Kinja'd!!!

This is a sad day for American sport bike fans. It has happened before and unfortunately has happened again. There is still a chance for Mr. Buell and EBR, but the future is unwritten.

This is going to make finding a used 1190SX much more difficult.

I wonder if I could still buy a new one?

There is a zero mile one on eBay for $15k obo and I have a feeling dealers are gonna try and get rid of them quickly.

This is sad. I really liked Erik Buell and his bikes, especially after his switch to Rotax engines. I liked some of the old Harley powered bikes, like the XB12r, but the Rotax were so much more fitting for sport bikes. I'm really gonna miss seeing these and hope Buell makes a return in the future with something new and awesome.

You may want to put this in...

They're filing chapter 128, which is a state chapter similar to bankruptcy (but not ACTUALLY bankruptcy) only available to residents of WI.

also, this MAYBE part of the plan. Make it easier for Hero to pick them up, and then re-market them as a racing devision. Thing something along the lines of
Hero motorcycles.
Erik Buell racing devision.

Not surprising. I'm already sending people to the local dealer to try and buy a t-shirt.

Are the parts still pretty much the same as Harley Parts? If so, it might be worth it. if not....orphan bikes are no fun to find parts for.

Right now I'm getting kinja'd by the mobile version and it's a pain to edit. But yeah that's interesting, you still have to repay your debuts but maybe that allows stake holders to still retain ownership.

No there is nothing Harley about EBRs. But the motors are Rotax so parts shouldn't be too hard to find.

Well that sucks for the employees.... bummer.

But I have to say, I certainly won't miss Buell's goofy-ass bikes.. I always scratched my head at the thought of using harley motors as the base of a "sport" bike.. And I still shriek everytime time I see a pic of one of those dumbo-eared bikes... and those "perimeter brakes"... ugh...
